Journey To North: Laoag-Pagudpud-Vigan Trip 2012 Part 4

Pin It Now!

  (The Last Part)

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

- William Blake

Grrrr!

I initially wanted to skip Baluarte-I'm not really fond of zoos at the same time it had rained and it would be very muddy but my father wanted to see this place and had his picture taken with Chavit's tiger.

Antique Canons

Jurassic Park

Mission Accomplished!

The next stop was Hidden Garden, it's in an area that looks like a small subdivision. You wouldn't really know that that place has a huge garden upon entering.

Managed to buy a clay rocking chair for my Barbie's display cabinet.

Japanese inspired garden.

I wasn't able to try their huge empanada :-(

My mother asked Kuya Arnel what's the best food to take home as pasalubong, she decided to buy some special puto that looks like a tart for my Ninong and Ninang whom we would be meeting after several years.

Had Kuya Arnel to take my pictures in the town central of Vigan while my mom bought pasalubong.

Here's where we bought the pasalubong and the van parked in front of Rang-ay bank is Kuya Joseph's van.

The last stop we had in Vigan was the Saint Augustine church, I wanted to climb the belfry but my thighs hurt  a lot despite the fact that I took mefanamic acid earlier to ease my muscle pain from climbing the lighthouse a day before.

Sigh! Was Really tempted to climb.

On the way back to Laoag, we dropped by the famous 5-Star Hotel Fort Ilocandia hoping to snag a room but then it was full at the moment and the price for a room was PHP 5k. So instead we just took some pictures.

Haggard. We cramped too much sight-seeing in one day, I suggest to actually have another
day just for Vigan for future travelers.

Our last day in Laoag, we had breakfast at Jollibee, where our hotel was conveniently located next to. Then we had some time before our 2pm flight back to Manila so we walked to the town's center and had pictures taken. Laoag is pretty much a small city, you can walk around by foot.

The sun was shining brightly that day, super typhoon Lawin already out of the Philippine area- it was so hard
to smile.

Photos (of the town center)are taken with Xperia Arc S-pretty impressive for a mobile phone camera, while most of the photos of the Hidden Garden and Baluarte where taken with my Panasonic Lumix FX38.

We didn't ask Kuya Arnel and Kuya Joseph to drop us off the airport because we were already confident in getting around town. We figured it would be easy to just ride Sagot ni Manang Imee bus to the airport. We waited in front of the town hall, the building adjacent is PNB where the bus picks up passengers. My mother was able to ask for the one in charge's cellphone number so she sent him a message what time the bus would drop by and he responded at noon so we waited patiently for the bus.

If we didn't take the airplane we would have been one of the passengers of that bus- w/ 16 hours of travel to Manila.

Father waiting for the bus- grass is so green- they were redoing some landscape in some parts of the  City Hall.
All in all, my Laoag-Pagudpud-Vigan Trip was really worth it! I've never been to a beautiful place much like Pagudpud. I also loved going through the streets of Vigan and get a glimpse of life during the Spanish rule. It was also a good way to get to know the Marcoses- one of the most powerful families in the Philippines. It was like going on an educational trip of our History. This place is beautiful that it's a frequent place for filmakers-even Tom Cruise shot his film 4th of July in this place. I can't help but feel happy pointing at the TV screen proudly saying,"I went there!". I do hope to be back here someday hopefully with a DSLR and in a better weather. I'm also very happy to have our trip booked with Kuya Arnel and Kuya Joseph-they were very accomodating and very patient (contact him @ 09265880666) especially with a camwhore like me. Now, it's time to look forward to my next adventure. Infinite xoxoxo
